Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) at UCLA provides free tax preparation services, performed by IRS-certified volunteers, to the Los Angeles community. Tax forms we prepare include Form 1040 (U.S. Individual Income Tax Return), CA Form 540 (California Resident Income Tax Return), and Form 1040NR (U.S. Nonresident Alien Income Tax Return).

For each tax return, we will prepare, review, print, and walk through the entire form with you to ensure accuracy and satisfaction before filing. Depending on how complicated your taxes are and how busy the tax site is, the entire process may take anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple of hours to complete.

We do not itemize deductions. Both spouses must be present for married-filing-jointly returns. We do not file Undocumented Returns or DACA.

In-person appointments are available for the 2024 tax season (2023 tax year) on campus from 1/23/2024 - 3/7/2024 and 4-2/2024 - 4/11/2024 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 11 AM - 3 PM in the UCLA Ackerman Union Viewpoint Conference Rooms 1&2 (A201A&B) on A-Level Floor (308 Westwood Plaza, Los Angeles, CA 90024) and off campus on select Saturdays and/or Sundays (location/time vary, please see below). We also accept walk-ins; however, walk-ins are not guaranteed, and appointments are prioritized and strongly recommended.
